About Us
W. Robert Knapik is the principal of the Law
Office of W. Robert Knapik
in Northbridge, Massachusetts. His practice is focused on the general
practice of law, with a particular emphasis on commercial and
residential real estate development, land use, and conveyancing. He
represents buyers, sellers, developers, and financial institutions in
all aspects of real estate acquisitions, financing, development,
permitting, construction, leasing and sales. He also represents
litigants in civil litigation related to land use and environmental
matters before appellate courts, trial courts and administrative bodies
including the Department of Environmental Protection and the Housing
Appeals Committee within the Department of Housing and Community
Development.
Prior to becoming a lawyer, Mr. Knapik was
employed by a major east coast consulting firm as a land surveyor and a
civil engineer. In twelve years of engineering practice, Mr. Knapik
served a diverse public and private clientele in large-scale
construction and land use projects. He is a Massachusetts Registered
Professional Land Surveyor and a Massachusetts Registered Professional
Engineer.
Mr. Knapik received a Bachelor of Science in Civil
Engineering from Worcester Polytechnic Institute in 1988, and a Juris
Doctor from the New England School of Law in 2000.
Developers
Mr. Knapik assists developers in the acquisition,
permitting,
financing, and construction of residential and commercial land
development projects. Mr. Knapik appears regularly before municipal
boards including planning boards, zoning boards, and conservation
commissions in support of land development projects. As part of a land
development project team, Mr. Knapik will work closely with engineers,
architects and other consultants to ensure a coordinated approach to
permit strategy and acquisition. Mr. Knapik has been involved in the
permitting and development of affordable housing for over eight years.
As a civil engineer, Mr. Knapik was involved in the development of
several affordable housing projects proposed pursuant to Massachusetts
General Laws chapter 40B for a national real estate investment trust.
As a lawyer, Mr. Knapik advises proponents of affordable housing from
project inception and planning, through design and permitting, appeals,
construction, and sale.
